ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

1.   OVERVIEW

The assistant manager, who is co-responsible for all on-site operations, will work within the arena outlined in this job description. The assistant manager must be a welcoming, energetic individual with a passion for local food and community events whocan organize a vibrant weekly market. During the summer months, the assistant will be trained to carry out all management duties.
 

THE ASSISTANT MARKET MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH OF THE TASKS IN THESE AREAS:

A.     On-Site Management:

  • Collect vendor fees and distribute receipts weekly
  • Manage SNAP and DUFB programs
  • Be primarily responsible for the POP Club Table and management of the POP Club program
  • Ensure that the market is a safe, welcoming place for vendors and customers
  • Interact with vendors, board members and guests in an open, friendly manner
  • Be able to adjust the vendor map on-site as needed
  • Set up and take down market tents, tables, chairs, signs and other equipment 
  • Monitor vendor products and check safety regulations
  • Be able to respond to all questions, complaints, or concerns from vendors and customers in a timely andcourteous way, get the Manager involved when necessary
  • Oversee the market information booth during market hours
  • Organize and train volunteers to help with Power of Produce Kids’ Club
  • Execute the POP Club Token disbursement
  • Run EBT machine and distribute tokens
  • Respond to emergencies in a calm, efficient manner
 

 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

 
  • $15.50 per hour
  • Summer Market and fill in for Winter Market as required
  •  Summer Market Saturdays 7:30 to 2:30 (May 17-Dec 20, 2025
  • Winter Market Saturdays 8:30-1:30 (Feb 7-May 2, 2026)
