Career Day gives students a chance to learn about careers and explore pathways that will lead to a fulfilling future. This will be our third Career Day; previous events have been met with huge success and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better event this year. We hope you will consider joining us on December 18th and help our Silverton High School students explore career pathways that will lead to a fulfilling future. Put us on your calendar today!
A half-day of your time will help our students, set goals and make good choices about their future. We hope that they will gain more purpose and work to become productive members of the workforce.
Our students’ biggest need is to meet people and see people who "go to work."
- Students are curious to learn what people do for a living. They are great at finding online information about jobs or by scrolling through videos, but few have spoken to people about the type of work they are doing and the lifestyle that they live. We want to help our students learn about what people in our area do for a living and give them the time to interact with people face to face.
You can share what your day looks like and how you got into your position.
- What kind of lifestyle does the occupation support such as work schedules, hours, vacations, days off, and travel? Are there other perks? What is satisfying about building things, helping people, or being a part of a team? What are our students’ next steps to work in that occupation and profession?
Not only do students want to learn about what people do, we also want our teachers to learn more about the careers that our students are exploring.
Students are already talking about career and professional representatives that they want to talk to. They are excited about learning what you do.
We want to make it easy for you to participate:
Schedule
8:00am - Check-in and find your gym location
8:30 - 9:30 - Session 1 Group - 400 Students
9:30 - 10:30 - Session 2 Group - 400 Students
10:30 - 11:30 - Session 3 Group - 400 Students
11:30 Pack up and done for the day
Provided:
- Table/booth where students will come and talk to you. Please bring anything to help show what you do (displays, objects, tools, etc.)
- If you need special space (large items), let us know and we will plan for it.
- If you need more space this year, let us know so we can accommodate
- If you need help moving in/out, we can accommodate if we know ahead of time and you arrive early
Pre-event virtual overview meetings and an opportunity to ask questions. Participation is not required.
