Pet Parade

In 1932, at the height of the Depression, Silverton sponsored the first Pet Parade as a way to provide some inexpensive entertainment for the children of silverton and to boost morale. The parade is now an annual tradition held on the third Saturday in May, making it the loghest rradition of its kind on the West coast.
Lots of children (of all ages) take part in the Pet Parade. All sorts of animals have appeared over the years from a "flea circus" to birds, rabbits, dogs, cats, mice, chickens, ducks, ferrets, snakes, fish, sheep, goats, cows and horses. Kids and adults in the parade wear costumes as do some of the pets.

Location
The parade begins at Coolidge & Main streets, travels Main St. to First St. and finishes at the Eugene Field School playground.
Fees/Admission
Free to participate, Just show up at the staging area near Coolidge McClaine Park.
