Lunaria Gallery presents an exhibit, Indian Summer, with current work by artists Genie Stewart and Theresa Sharrar, both contributing members of Lunaria Gallery. Genie uses beads in colors of the southwest to make her bracelets, while Theresa celebrates fall with her paintings on canvas
The four corners area of the southwest unfailingly beckons Genie Stewart every Fall...the colors, the geography, the cultures. In this spirit and for this show, she has selected "beads" for the main medium. She combines larger ones with heavy brass wires to become wall pieces and mobiles. Small beads are woven into bracelets which wrap the wrist several times. In addition, she has woven several fabric pieces using Theresa Sharrar's palette, also with a bit of the southwest in them.
For Theresa Sharrar, the days of summer that stretch well into Fall, often bring a spirit-lifting expansion, filling her with a longing to be outdoors to paint and bird-watch. Her body of recent work is plein air; painted on location and finished in her studio. It includes paintings on canvas from Theresa's personal landscape, as well as that of Genie Stewart's natural surroundings. Other sweet spots have made their way onto her canvases.
Jude Morales's work reflects a lifelong affinity with mid-20th century art, illustration and design. In his recent works, mostly created in the past two years, his pieces include figurative references to life's adventures, illustrious dreamscapes and a still life. Much of his time is spent following his two children through their own adventures, which plays in his current work.
