On Saturday, June 7, 2025 the Silverton Lions are hosting Silverton Free Fish Day along with the Silverton Kiwanis. Our co-sponsors are the City of Silverton, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and FirstStudent, Inc. (Bus Barn). We are thrilled to be able to host our 29th yearly event!
“Free Fish Day” takes place at the Silverton Reservoir from 8:00 am through 3:00 pm. The reservoir is closed during our event.
We provide transportation to and from the reservoir by a shuttle bus that stops every hour… the ROUTE is as follows: (1) first stop is the parking lot in front the NEW City Hall between Water and First streets, then (2) the Robert Frost School parking lot, then to Water Street and (3) the parking lot at the OLD City Hall north of the Visitors Center & the Library, then on to (4) the Church of the Nazarene, and last, to the Silverton Reservoir.
Everyone is welcome to participate. You can bring your own fishing poles, etc. or we will provide the equipment, bait, and fishing expertise. The Silverton Kiwanis will keep you from being hungry with their BBQ and beverages. Several volunteers from the city’s Fire Department and Police Reserves will be on hand for emergency, and other services, to the public. This fun, free event offers children and their families an opportunity to come together to “do a little fishing” and hopefully, strengthen the bonds between parent and child, family and community.
No matter what the weather, we always catch a lot of fish for your to keep! For your child’s first fish caught we will weigh it and present them with a certificate. Questions? Please contact event organizer Lion Ron at 503-931-1346 or skyhut@gmail.com
