On Saturday, June 1, 2024 the Silverton Lions are hosting Silverton Free Fish Day. Our co-sponsors are the Silverton Kiwanis, the City of Silverton and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. We are thrilled to be able to host our 28th yearly event!
“Free Fish Day” will take place at the Silverton Reservoir from 8:00 am through 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 3. The reservoir is closed during our event. We provide transportation to and from the reservoir by shuttle buses that stop every half hour at the vacant lot between Roth’s and the new SACA Building, Robert Frost School parking lot, the Historical Museum and the Church of the Nazarene. Last bus leaves the Reservoir at 3 pm. Everyone is welcome to participate. You can bring your own fishing gear or we will be happy to provide the equipment, bait, and fishing expertise. The Silverton Kiwanis will keep you from being hungry with their hot dogs and beverages. Several volunteers from the city’s Fire Department and Police Reserves will be on hand for any emergency services.
This fun, free event offers children and their families an opportunity to come together to “do a little fishing” and hopefully, strengthen the bonds between parent and child, family and community. No matter what the weather, we always catch a lot of fish. Anything you catch is yours to keep! For your child’s first fish caught we will weigh it and present them with a certificate. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
