Contemporary stylized botanical paintings and drawings by Diane Trevett and turned-wood art by Gary McGuire are featured with a reception on First Friday in Silverton, from 7-9 p.m.
Diane uses rich color and compositional elements such as diptychs, triptychs and grids and close-up views to portray her subject matter. The exhibit includes reproductions and note cards. Gary‘s carved, wooden sculptures use wood that comes from ecological and sustainable logging practices.
Diane's approach to drawing and painting comes from her emotional and spiritual response to the subject. Flowers, fruit, sea shells, and land forms inspire her. She uses a scientific and illustrative approach to flower and plant study as in botanical illustration. However, she departs from that style in a contemporary and stylized way.
Gary’s artistic approach is to let the wood show forth its beauty. He approaches each piece of wood the same way, looking for the piece of art that is housed within the wood.
Upstairs in the Loft gallery you'll find "By a Thread" featuring fiber art by past Lunaria members.
