A gathering of Garden Fans – Join other Garden Club friends from Oregon and the Pacific Northwest at the Gordon House on Monday, October 20. Meet at 10 a.m. to hear the latest Gordon House native garden news and dedicate the first garden interpretive sign made possible by the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs Ellen Ambuhl Conservation Award and the Oregon Roadside Council.
Refreshments served, flower arrangements on display, and native plant sale to benefit the Gordon House. Please plan to join us with your garden fan friends!
This is a great opportunity to discuss Wright’s particular interest in the landscape and gardens around his building designs. Frank Lloyd Wright designed landscapes before he was fully involved with architecture. Wright’s garden interest definitely leaned to native and natural areas around the buildings. Ed Gordon asked for “natural grasses and wildflowers” around his farm house. Silverton’s Oregon Garden is the perfect location for Wright’s Oregon legacy. There will also be a tribute to the significance of our piece of the Willamette Valley’s ancient White Oak savannah surrounding the house and providing the truly important deciduous tree view shed.
