Visit The Oregon Garden this summer to experience inspiring outdoor art installations during Art in the Garden, presented by Capitol Subaru, July 14 to September 22. Seven Oregon artists will showcase their work, ranging from smaller glass-blown items to large-scale, permanent art pieces, and most pieces will be for sale.
The Art in the Garden Opening Weekend kicks off on Saturday, July 13 at 5 pm with an Art Presale and free wine tasting at the Oregon Garden Resort. Following is a five-course Forks & Corks wine pairing dinner at the Resort, featuring Willamette Valley Vineyards wines. Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased online.
On Sunday, July 14 at 10 am, the featured artists meet and talk with guests about their installations and explain their inspiration. Tickets to the artist meet and greet are included with regular Garden admission and guests 21+ receive a free mimosa to enjoy in the Garden. Admission is $14 for Adults, $11 for Teens (11-17), $8 for Children (5-10), children 4 & under and Garden members are free.
2019 Featured Artists include:
- Bud Egger - A Pacific Northwest sculptor for over 40 years who designs pieces that tell a story.
- Lorraine Garcy - Lives in Brownsville, Oregon. Lorraine uses nature as her inspiration to create handmade, torch blown copper pieces, such as flowers, and sea animals.
- Judy Kunkle - Judy is inspired by beauty in everyday objects and uses repurposed windows and other pieces to create a stained glass look or mosaic design on her work. Judy currently lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
- Susan Murray - Susan is a local Silverton, Oregon resident and has a passion for metal and glass art. Susan welds entertaining and quirky structures for gardens.
- Kay Sims - Inspired by rusty patina found on old metal objects, Kay creates plasma cut designs on repurposed shovels with a feminine design but using a masculine process. Kay lives in Portland, Oregon.
- Susan Wheeler - Susan is a glass artist from McMinnville, Oregon who kiln-fires her ornamental glass hangers and garden stakes. Susan's artwork is inspired by nature's design, colors, and textures.
- Lauren Wingert - Lauren is an Albany, Oregon resident and makes unique hand blown glass sculptures and art pieces for the garden out of her studio near the Oregon Coast. Lauren was inspired by many years of collecting glass while working as a glass dealer.
Installations can be viewed at The Oregon Garden throughout the summer, and is included with Garden admission. Art in the Garden is presented by Capitol Subaru and sponsored by Willamette Valley Pie Co., Salem Sign Co., K2 Creative, Bud Light, Widmer Brothers Brewing and 10 Barrel Brewing Co.
